We arrived in Lima to warm welcomes—and a bit of a shake! A few hours after landing, we felt a significant earthquake. Luckily, all is well, and it made for a memorable start.

Our first full day was spent exploring the city on foot, soaking in the sights, sounds, and rhythm of Lima. The following day, we visited the U.S. Embassy to meet with members of the Ministry of Education, followed by a tour of the Fulbright headquarters. There, we learned more about the rich history of the program in Peru and the complex social realities that shape Peruvian life today.
